Window Tinting Changes How You Drive

Professional window tinting offers many benefits that go beyond just improving your vehicle’s appearance. High-quality tinting films provide excellent UV protection, blocking up to 99% of harmful rays. This not only protects your skin but also prevents your car’s interior from fading and cracking over time.

The heat reduction properties of window tints also keep your car cooler, potentially improving fuel efficiency by reducing the need for air conditioning. Glare reduction is another significant advantage, improving comfort and safety by minimising sun glare during the day and headlight dazzle at night.

Tinted windows also offer increased privacy and security, deterring potential thieves and protecting your valuables.

About the process

We don’t offer a mobile service due to airborne contamination. The window tinting process is carried out in our Colchester workshop in a designated clean room. This area has temperature controlled filtered air which removes airborne particles as small as 0.25 microns.

The tinting process takes from 2 to 5 hours to complete as the films are individually cut and shrunk to fit your vehicle.

The Law on Vehicle Window Tinting

For your guidance, we have listed the current legislation on tinting below.
Please note it is not possible to tint front windows on most modern cars as they are manufactured with the maximum legally permitted tint already. Rear windows can be tinted as dark as you wish.

Vehicle & Operator Services Agency (VOSA) LEGAL STATEMENT

Vosa LogoRoad Vehicles (Construction & Use) Regulations 1986 as amended specify the minimum levels of light that must pass through the windscreen and front side windows.

The Limits are: (Motor vehicles first used on or after 1 April 1985)
· The light transmitted through the windscreen must be at least 75%.
· The front side windows must allow at least 70% of light to be transmitted through them.

There are penalties for having incorrectly tinted windows:
The police or VOSA vehicle examiners use light measuring equipment to measure window tint. If your windscreen or front side windows are tinted too much you could get a ‘prohibition notice’ stopping you using your vehicle on the road until you have the extra tint removed, you may also get a penalty notice or court summons.

Did you know?
Your rear windows can be tinted as dark as you wish, the law only applies to the front windows.
